Artisans of the New England is a long-term photographic project by recent New England local, Jim A. Barker. Initiated in 2022, Barker has documented creatives in the region including painters, sculptors, ceramicists, as well as those who make things with their hands such as clockmakers, furniture restorers, seamstresses and writers. The resulting images are a snapshot in time of the array of emerging and established artists who call the New England home. Be there opening night this Friday 12 April at Armidale’s own New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM). Or check it out at your leisure while it graces NERAM’s walls until 26 May.

Armidale’s own New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) is celebrating 40 years in the New England Community this year. FOUND Regional recently chatted with the gallery’s Director, Rachael Parsons, about where it all began, the highs along the way, and plans afoot for the next 40 years.

The Winter Blooming Festival will be bringing a whole lot of sparkle and sass to Armidale when it kicks off its program of events celebrating LGBTIQA+, First Nations and multicultural arts, culture, communities, and allies on 18 August.

Between 2022 and 2026, the Three Echoes – Western Desert Art exhibition will travel to 13 regional centres throughout Australia – and from now until 27 August 2023, you can see the collection for yourself at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale, NSW.
